1. Transportation

Chandel District is connected by the Indo-Myanmar Road reaching upto Moreh. The Pallel-Chandel Road diverts from Indo-Myanmar Road at Pallel connecting the district head quarters.

To visit Chandel district, the following information may provide some help.

1. To visit Chandel District HQ and Chandel block, one can - catch Chandel buses at Keishampat Bus Parking (at Imphal) - catch any bus reaching Kakching and catch Chandel buses from Kakching or Kakching Lamkhai. - at Kakching Lamkhai, catch available bus for Chandel or catch any auto or Tata Magic plying for Pallel. - at Pallel, catch any bus/Tata Sumo.

2. To visit Chakpikarong division (block), one can catch - Chakpikarong buses at Keishampat Bus Parking (at Imphal) - or catch any bus reaching Kakching and catch Chakpikarong buses from Kakching or Kakching Lamkhai. - or catch any bus reaching Sugnu and from there catch Tata Sumo for Chakpikarong.

3. To visit Tengnoupal division (block) or Moreh, one catch buses or Tata Sumos at Moreh Bus Parking (at Imphal).

4. To visit Machi division (block), at present there is no bus service. Only trucks are carrying passengers between Machi and Kakching. So hiring of light vehicles is recommended to visit Machi.

2. Communications

Today, landline telephone services by BSNL is mainly used in government departments and NGOs. Mobile services provided by BSNL and Airtel are widely used for voice calls and internet browsing with limited facilities. Courier/Postal services are done mainly through Indian Postal Service by sub-post offices scattered in the district. The postal code for the District HQ is 795127.
